About Florian Toegel, MD

Florian Toegel, MD, joined Colorado Kidney Care in 2019. His primary areas of clinical expertise include hemodialysis, vascular access, acute care nephrology and hemodialysis.

Dr. Toegel grew up in Augsburg, Germany and studied medicine in Munich and Hamburg. In 2002, he moved to Salt Lake City to complete a graduate program in Physiology with a PhD based on studying the use of stem cells to treat kidney injury. He completed his medical training at Albert Einstein Jacobi and New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell where he became a clinical and research fellow in Medicine (Nephrology) at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Toegel has published more than 20 scientific peer reviewed publications, as well as reviews and book chapters, and has been teaching students and residents throughout his career.

Dr. Toegel is married with one son and spends his free time swimming, biking, running and participating in triathlon events.
